STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Georgetown University's men's golf team closed out the 42nd Rutherford Intercollegiate in ninth place after posting a 299 in the final round for an 893 total.
Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) led the Hoyas with a 221 to tie for 27th place. Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) shot 223 to tie for 36th, Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) carded a 224 to tie for 42nd, and Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) posted a 227 to tie for 54th place. Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) shot a 230 to tie for 62nd.
Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C./Westchester Country Day), playing as an individual, shot a 225 to tie for 46th.
Host Penn State won the 12-team field at 844 and was the only team to shoot under par. West Virginia finished second at 859, followed by Oakland (867) and Loyola Maryland (870). Eastern Michigan (876) was fifth, followed by Seton Hall (877) and Dayton (877) tied for sixth. Rutgers (880), Georgetown (893), Columbia (894), Cleveland State (907) and Binghamton (912) rounded out the competition.
The Hoyas return to action at the BIG EAST Championships on April 29-May 1 at the Callawassie Golf Course in Callawassie Island, South Carolina.
