WASHINGTON - For the first time this season, the Georgetown University track & field program swept the BIG EAST weekly track awards. All-American Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day) and Jody-Ann Knight (Bentonville, Ark./Bentonville) were tabbed the BIG EAST Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, respectively. The honor comes after the Hoyas had a stellar weekend at the Mason Spring Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia, recording eight podium performances, including five wins.
Bartelsmeyer ran a personal best (PB) to lead a quartet of Hoyas among the top 10 in the men's 800-meter run. Bartelsmeyer clocked 1:49.18 to rank second in the BIG EAST Conference and 26th nationally.
This is the fourth overall weekly honor of Bartelsmeyer's career as he earned the honor twice during the indoor season and once during the 2017 outdoor season.
Knight ran a PB 11.86 to finish third in the women's 100-meter dash in addition to winning the 200-meter event. Her 23.70 in the 200-meter dash was the fastest time of the day but due to the wind conditions, does not count on the BIG EAST leaderboard. Knight currently tops the league in the 100-meter dash and her wind-legal 24.41 in the 200-meter dash from the Florida Relays ties for fourth in the BIG EAST.
This is the first weekly honor of Knight's career.
The Hoyas return to action on April 20-21 for the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia.
