WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball squad dropped a 4-0 decision to Villanova on Sunday afternoon to conclude a three-game BIG EAST series. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 13-33, 4-10 in the BIG EAST, while the Wildcats improve to 22-17-1 with a 7-5 mark in the league, winning the overall series against GU.
Offensively, the Blue & Gray was led by senior Theresa Kane (Mystic, Conn./Stonington), who recorded two hits. Additionally, sophomore Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del./Red Lion Christian Academy) landed a double, her eighth of the season. Georgetown had a total of six hits.
Sophomore Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) pitched the first 5.0 innings on the mound. Pacha gave up four runs and four hits while walking six and striking out four. Sophomore Katie Vannicola (Vienna, Va./James Madison HS) pitched the final inning, not allowing any hits or runs against her.
The Wildcats stayed consistent with scoring throughout the game. GU had opportunities to score in the second, fourth and seventh innings but could not capitalize on any opportunities to score.
