April 23, 2018 WASHINGTON - The BIG EAST Conference announced the seedings for the 2018 Men’s and Women’s BIG EAST Tennis Championships Presented by Jeep, which will be played on Thursday, April 26 through Sunday, April 29 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, South Carolina. The women earned the No. 9 seed while the men earned the No. 5 seed and will both play against the Butler tennis teams.
The women will open the tournament on Thursday at 9 a.m. against eighth-seeded Butler in the first round of play. This will be the first meeting between the two squads this season. The winner will then play No. 1 seeded St. John’s on Friday at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals.
The Hoyas finished the regular season with a 4-12 overall record and an 0-2 mark in the BIG EAST.
The men will begin play on Friday at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinals against fourth-seeded Butler. This will be the first time this season that the two teams will face each other. The winner of the match will then face the winner between No. 1 seeded DePaul or eighth-seeded Villanova.
The Georgetown men’s tennis squad finished the season 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the BIG EAST.
The championship matches will be held on Sunday, April 29. The women’s final will be at 9 a.m. and the men’s final is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
