Women's Soccer Holds Annual Banquet

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's soccer team held its annual banquet on Saturday to recognize the accomplishments of the 2017 squad. Head Coach Dave Nolan and his staff named the three major award winners and announced the recipient of the Sarah Breech Inspirational Award.

Freshman defender Kelly Ann Livingstone (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) was named the team's Rookie of the Year. Livingstone helped the defense to 17 shutouts this season starting 20 games overall in her rookie year on the backline. Livingstone was named the BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week after just four games into the season for the Hoyas in 2017. Additionally, she was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.

Senior defender Elizabeth Wenger (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year. Wenger started in 19 games on the season and anchored the team on a defense that allowed just seven goals in 21 games and led the nation in shutout percentage.

Wenger earned her first career All-America honor this past fall receiving a nod to the second team and was a First Team All-Midwest Region honoree after being named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. She was a three-time All-BIG EAST honoree, earning a spot on the first team as a senior. Wenger earned five BIG EAST weekly awards this season and also her second-consecutive all-tournament award being named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player as a senior. She was just recently selected by the Boston Breakers in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft in January.

The Offensive Player of the Year Award was given to senior midfielder Rachel Corboz (Green Brook, N.J./Pingry). Corboz was a First Team All-Midwest Region selection and was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, as well as a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree. She led the team with nine goals and 12 assists for 30 points on the season, and had seven multi-point performances. Corboz was the nation's active career leader in assists and assists per game as a senior and ranked second in the country in assists and fourth in assists per game. She led the country in total assists (16) in 2016, and now ranks second on GU's all-time career listing in assists (44) and points (112).

In her career, Corboz earned two career BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year awards and was a All-BIG EAST honoree including three nods to the first team. She was a three-time United Soccer Coaches All-American, a four-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree and a two-time MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. Corboz earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team in 2016 and 2017, winning Most Outstanding Offensive Player as a senior.

Senior forward Leah McCullough (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) was given the Sarah Breech Inspirational Award. The Sarah Breech Inspirational Award is award to a teammate who has had to overcome major obstacles and has shown great courage and resilience. McCullough is only the second recipient of the Sarah Breech Inspirational Award. She supported the team after suffering an early-season injury.

Georgetown completed the 2017 campaign with 14 wins and both the BIG EAST Regular Season and Championship titles for the first time in program history. The Hoyas were just the fourth team in league history to win back-to-back titles. GU's NCAA Tournament berth was the eighth for the Blue & Gray.
