Hoyas Fall to DePaul in Semifinals

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team lost to DePaul, 4-3, on Saturday in the BIG EAST Semifinals in Cayce, South Carolina. The Hoyas finish the season 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the BIG EAST Conference.

The Blue Demons earned the doubles point, winning two out of the three sets. Sophomore Ian Witmer (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) and junior Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) won the lone set for GU in doubles, defeating Luuk Wassenaar and Tames Zador at the No. 3 spot, 6-3.

In singles, freshman Rohan Kamdar (Singapore/Anglo Chinese School) won the battle over Alex Galoustian at No. 2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 5 position, junior Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) defeated Zador, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Additionally, freshman Charlie Sharton (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) dominated Wassenaar at No. 6, 6-4, 6-0.
