Women's Rowing Competes at GW Invite

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's openweight and lightweight women's rowing teams will both compete at the GW Invite this weekend on the Potomac River. The openweight women will field two 8+ and two 4+ boats each while the lightweights will race two 8+ and one 4+ crew.

Openweight
The Hoyas open racing on Friday against George Washington and George Mason for the annual George's Cup. The varsity 8+ showdown for the trophy is set for 4 p.m., while the second varsity 8+ rows at 3 p.m. and the varsity 4+ event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Georgetown's second varsity 4+ boat will race Rhode Island at 1:20 p.m.

On Saturday, the Blue & Gray takes on MIT and Saint Joseph's in the varsity 8+ at 11:30 a.m., the second varsity 8+ at 10:30 a.m. and the varsity 4+ race at 9:20 a.m. The second varsity 4+ will once again race URI in the opening morning heat at 9 a.m.

Following the weekend's racing, the openweights return to the water on Saturday, April 21 at the Cherry Hill Invitational in Camden, New Jersey.

Lightweight
Coming off back-to-back victories in its two races to open the spring season, the GU lightweights will take on Drexel and MIT on Friday, followed by George Mason and Dayton on Saturday. Friday's racing begins at 1:50 p.m. with the varsity 4+, followed by the second varsity 8+ at 2:50 p.m. and the varsity 8+ at 3:50 p.m.

On Saturday, the Hoyas kick things off against GMU and Dayton at 9:40 a.m. with the varsity 4+, followed by the second varsity 8+ at 10:50 a.m. and the varsity 8+ at 11:40 a.m.

Following the weekend's racing, the lightweights return to the water on Saturday, April 14 at the Knecht Cup in Mercer Lake, New Jersey.
