WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University sailing team held a commanding lead through three round robins to clinch the Prosser Trophy, which serves as the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) Team Race Conference Championship and national championship qualifier. The top four teams from the two-day regatta advance to the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Team Race National Championships at the end of the season.

The Georgetown University sailing team held a perfect 7-0 record through the first round robin, taking the top spot in five of the seven races. The Hoyas handily held on to the lead and managed a 6-1 record in the second round, its only loss coming to Hobart and William Smith.
With a 13-1 record following two rounds, the Blue & Gray held a two-race advantage over second-place HWS (11-3). In the final round, GU handily defeated the Statesmen as it went 1-2-3, but dropped one to George Washington for the 6-1 round record.
At 19-2, Georgetown handily won the event with George Washington (15-6), Hobart and William Smith (15-6) and Cornell (9-12) rounding out the national championship qualifiers.
