WASHINGTON – Georgetown sailing swept its opening weekend of the fall season, winning all three regattas it entered. Georgetown competed at the Riley Cup at Old Dominion University, the Navy Women's Regatta on the Severn River and the ILCA South singlehanded qualifier. Across a weekend of shifting, unsettled conditions with thunderstorms in Norfolk and three separate breezes in Annapolis, the Hoyas also put a second boat on the Riley Cup podium and swept both divisions at Navy Women's.
 
Riley Cup
Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va. - FJs, 18 teams
 
Georgetown's Hoyas 1 won the 2026 Riley Cup with 37 points. The team consisted of skippers Pierce and Fynn Olsen and crews Irene Lin and Lia Nafe . The Hoyas' second team finished tied with Navy's Midshipmen 2 on 47 points and took third on the tiebreaker, giving Georgetown two boats in the top three of an 18-team field.
 
The regatta got underway at 11 a.m. on Saturday in a 6–12 knot southeasterly, with four races completed in each division in a mix of W4's and W3's before thunderstorms sent the fleet ashore at 3 p.m. Sunday opened in a light 5–8 knot southwesterly. A division completed two more races before heavy rain drove the fleet to the dock, and with B division able to finish only one race in a dying breeze, race 6A was discarded, leaving five races scored in each division.
 
A Division
P. Olsen, sailing with crew Lin, finished second with 19 points, while Conrad Cook and crew Alex Oh placed seventh with 37.
 
B Division
Alex Baker and crew Sophia Skrivanich won the division outright with 10 points, four ahead of the fleet. F. Olsen and crew Nafe finished third in B with 18. The two B-division scores were what carried both Georgetown boats into the top three overall.
 
Navy Women's Regatta
U.S. Naval Academy, mouth of the Severn River - 420s, 8 teams
 
The Hoyas' top team won the regatta by a wide margin, posting 71 points to Navy's 140, a 69-point cushion, and became the only team in the eight-boat field to win both divisions. The Hoyas' second team finished fifth with 190 points.
 
Saturday was sailed in a 5–10 knot southeasterly on W4 courses. Sunday's fleet launched into a westerly that was too light to race, waited, then got two more races in as a 4–5 knot northerly filled. The teams saw a third abandoned when that breeze died, and closed the day in an easterly that built to eight knots.
 
A Division
Emily Doble and crew Ellie Smith won the division with 37 points, 39 clear of second-place Old Dominion (76). Maddie Rode and crew Lucy Jervis sailed Hoyas 2's A division to seventh with 108 points for the event.
 
B Division
Nissa Berman and crew Anna Brzezinski also won their division, scoring 34 to Navy's 50. Isabel Massey and crew Helen O'Neill took fifth in B for Hoyas 2 with 82 points.
 
ILCA South
U.S. Naval Academy, mouth of the Severn River - ILCA, 18 sailors from 5 schools, 9 races
 
Peter Barnard won the regatta on 47 points, edging Navy by a single point over nine races. Behind him, the Hoyas put four sailors in the top 10 and three in the top five.

Peter Herlihy and Oscar Parzen finished one point apart in the shifting Sunday conditions, which produced three distinct breezes and one abandoned race. Barnard, Helrihy and Parzen now move on to the MAISA Singlehanded Championships in two weeks
 
Standout Performances

• Barnard won the ILCA South by one point over nine races, leading a Georgetown group that claimed three of the top five places in the singlehanded fleet.
• Doble and Smith won the A division at the Navy Women's by 39 points, the largest divisional margin of the weekend.
• Berman and Brzezinski won the B division at the Navy Women's to complete Georgetown's divisional sweep.
• Baker and Skrivanich won the B division at the Riley Cup with 10 points, lifting Hoyas 2 onto the podium in an 18-team fleet.
