May 4, 2018 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (14-35, 5-12 BIG EAST) will host Seton Hall this weekend at Nationals Youth Academy for a three-game BIG EAST series to close out the regular season. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday scheduled for noon and then a single contest on Sunday at noon.
The Hoyas are entering the series with a 1-2 record from last weekend at Creighton. The Blue & Gray shut out the Bluejays in the first game, 4-0, recording the second no-hitter of the season for sophomore Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas/St. John's School). Freshman Savannah Jones led Georgetown at the plate with three hits against Creighton.
For the season, junior
Sarah Bennett (Owings, Md./Northern) leads the team with 29 RBIs and seven home runs. Freshman
Savannah Jones (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda) has a team-high of 13 doubles and ranks second in the conference in the category. Additionally, Pacha leads the BIG EAST with 154 strikeouts on the season.
Seton Hall is entering the game with an 0-4 record on the week, falling to 18-33 on the season with a 4-14 mark in the BIG EAST. The Pirates lost to Stony Brook in midweek game on Tuesday, 3-0, and went 0-3 at Villanova over the weekend. SHU is led by Payton Beaver, batting .323 at the plate and collecting a team-high of 29 RBIs this season. Janae Barracato also leads the Pirates with 44 hits, nine doubles and five home runs. Alexis Walkden has a team-high of 10 homers.
