Georgetown to Face Creighton in BIG EAST Series on Friday and Saturday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (13-14, 6-6 BIG EAST) will make the trip to Omaha, Nebraska, to face the Creighton University Bluejays this weekend in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at the Creighton Softball Stadium. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET as the first game in a doubleheader. The third game in the series will be played at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. Contests were shifted due to inclement weather in the region.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • On Wednesday, the Hoyas fell to the University of Maryland Terrapins, 5-3, in a nonconference matchup on a walk-off home run.
  • Earlier in the game, Dayanara Campos hit a three-run homer to tie the program record for career home runs with 29.
  • Last weekend, GU swept the Seton Hall University Pirates, marking the program's first three-game conference sweep since the 2014 season.
  • The Hoyas won 2-1 on Friday, followed by a six-inning 8-0 run-rule win on Saturday. GU capped off the impressive weekend with a 4-1 victory on Sunday.
  • For their efforts against The Hall, both Devyn Johnson and Marina Egbert earned BIG EAST Weekly awards on Monday.
  • Johnson was named the Freshman of the Week as she tallied a team-high five RBIs with two home runs and a pair of runs scored against Seton Hall.
  • The rookie excelled in the second game of the series, launching a three-run home run in the fifth inning.
  • Egbert earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors, boasting a 0.00 ERA in two appearances, owning a 1-0 record with a save over 8.0 innings of work.
  • The graduate student threw a complete game in Friday's win, striking out one while allowing just three hits.
  • She currently leads the conference in saves with six and ranks second in the league with a 3.00 ERA. 
  • Brooke Rebhan leads the team at the plate batting .351, owning a team-best 34 hits and 17 RBIs.
  • Campos is batting .344 to go along with a squad-high nine home runs as well as 20 RBIs.
  • Marina Egbert has a 3.00 ERA in the circle with 21 strikeouts on the year, while Catherine Larson has a 3.32 ERA with 52 strikeouts.
  • Emily Collins rounds it out with 46 strikeouts in 59 innings pitched with a 3.44 ERA.
  • In the field, the Hoyas rank second in the conference in double plays per game with 0.59, and rank ninth in the nation.
ABOUT THE BLUEJAYS
  • Creighton is 20-20 on the season and 9-3 in league play.
  • The squad is coming off of a 9-0 five-inning victory over Drake on Wednesday evening.
  • The Bluejays recorded six stolen bases on Wednesday night, pushing their single-season program record to 93 stolen bases, shattering the previous school record of 89 set back in 1991.
  • In their last BIG EAST series, the Bluejays went 2-1 against Butler.
