WASHINGTON – The No. 7 Georgetown women's soccer team will host DePaul on Thursday at Shaw Field in a BIG EAST matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Monika Moore calling the action. Carson Nizialek (Chantilly, Va. / Freedom) scored the in-between goal with less than a minute to go in the first half off of a penalty kick. Senior goalkeeper
Arielle Schechtman (Del Mar, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day / UCLA) recorded her sixth shutout of the season against the Red Storm with six saves.
On Monday, Schechtman was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week and Farrell was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. This is Georgetown's sixth-straight week being recognized by the league.
Farrell leads the squad with 15 points from seven goals and an assist. The forward is followed by Carusa with 13 points off of five goals and three assists. Carusa has tallied a point in six of the last seven contests. Schechtman currently leads the NCAA Division I active career list in shutouts with 38, ranks second in save percentage (0.949) and is third in the nation in GAA (0.236). The goalkeeper ranks 10th in the country in shutouts with six this season. As a team, the Blue & Gray sits fifth in the NCAA in save percentage (0.917).
The Blue Demons are entering Thursday's match with a 5-3-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in the BIG EAST. DePaul shut out Seton Hall on Sunday, 3-0, in the league opener. Franny Cerny led the squad with two goals against the Pirates and also leads the team with 14 points from six goals and two assists. Mollie Eriksson is 5-2-1 in the net and registers a .690 GAA with 26 saves at goal.
This is the 18th meeting between the Hoyas and the Blue Demons, with GU leading the all-time series, 8-5-4. The Blue & Gray shut out DePaul during the 2017 campaign, 4-0, when senior
