On Monday, Schechtman was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week and Farrell was named to the Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts during the 3-0 victory against St. John's last Sunday in the BIG EAST opener. This is Georgetown's sixth-straight week being recognized by the league.
Farrell leads the squad with 17 points from eight goals and an assist. The forward is followed by Carusa with 15 points off of six goals and three assists. Carusa has tallied a point in seven of the last eight contests. Schechtman currently leads the NCAA Division I active career list in shutouts with 39, ranks second in save percentage (0.957) and GAA (0.211) and sixth in shutouts with seven this season. As a team, the Blue & Gray sits fifth in the NCAA in save percentage (0.929) and sixth in GAA (.349).
The Blue & Gray currently leads the BIG EAST Conference, winning both of its league matches. The Hoyas rank first in the conference in several categories, including goals (22), goals allowed (4), goals per game (2.0), GAA (.35), shutouts (7) and corners (7.18). Farrell is tied for first in four conference categories, including points (17), points per game (1.55), goals (8) and goals per game (.73). Additionally, Schechtman ranks first the BIG EAST in the same categories that she leads nationally.
Seton Hall is 0-2 in the conference and 2-5-4 overall. The Pirates lost to DePaul in their BIG EAST opener, 3-0, and to Butler on Thursday, 3-0. SHU finished in a draw in three of its last five contests. Junior Siobhan McGovern leads the squad with four points from two goals. Senior goalkeeper Anna MacLean registers a .821 save percentage and a 1.01 GAA.
The game on Sunday will be the 25th meeting between the schools, with Georgetown leading the head-to-head series, 14-8-2. The Hoyas defeated the Pirates, 4-0, at Shaw Field last season. Sophomore
