WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University swimming & diving men's and women's teams were each selected as College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American programs for the 2018 fall semester. The Hoya men posted the third-best team GPA in the country.
The men put together a 3.57 team GPA to lead all BIG EAST schools and rank third in the country, behind only Grand Canyon University (3.68) and Harvard University (3.63). The Hoya women registered a 3.43 fall GPA, ranking among the top 50 percent of 175 Division I women's programs that were recognized.
The CSCAA announced that a record 713 teams from 460 institutions were selected as Scholar All-America Teams for the Fall 2018 semester. The teams were designated by the CSCAA's Scholar All-America committee on the basis of their Fall grade point averages and represent 16,502 student-athletes. For a team to be honored, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
The Hoyas wrap up the regular season with a two-day, tri-meet with BIG EAST opponents Providence and Seton Hall in South Orange, New Jersey. In GU's final tune-up before the BIG EAST Championships (Feb. 20-23), the diving portion of the meet will take part on Friday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m., while the swimming will begin on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.
