WASHINGTON – Following the team's season-opening sweep of Towson on Thursday, the Georgetown swimming & diving team swept the BIG EAST weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Junior
Drew Carbone earned BIG EAST Men's Athlete of the Week, while freshman
Corey Moon was selected as the BIG EAST Women's Athlete of the Week.
DREW CARBONE
- Carbone came away with three individual victories, sweeping the backstroke events and also winning the 200-yard IM.
- His triumph in the 200 IM sealed the Hoyas' 155-145 victory over the Tigers with just one event remaining.
- The junior took the 100-yard backstroke by more than two full seconds with a time of 49.36 to lead the BIG EAST and rank 33rd in the nation.
- Carbone also won the 200-yard backstroke by more than six seconds in 1:48.02 to finish tops in the BIG EAST and clinch the 22nd best time in the country in 2019-20.
COREY MOON
- In her first collegiate meet, Moon helped lead the Hoyas to a 155-145 victory over Towson with a pair of individual wins in distance events.
- She claimed a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:19.09 to finish first by a comfortable 12.5-second margin.
- Moon touched the wall in 5:05.83 in the 500-yard freestyle to beat her teammate by two full seconds.
- Moon's times are tops in the BIG EAST this season, while her time in the 1,000 free is 52nd in the nation.

The Hoyas will be right back in action next week when they make the short trip to American University for a dual meet on Friday, Oct. 18. Racing will start at 5 p.m.
