WASHINGTON – Freshman goalkeeper Anna Leat was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday after earning her sixth shutout of the season on Sunday at Butler in a 0-0 draw. She helped the No. 11 Georgetown University women's soccer team (10-2-3, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) stretch its unbeaten streak to a conference-best 10 matches.
Leat tallied five saves in a 110-minute scoreless tie in Indianapolis over the weekend. The freshman has allowed just three goals in the last six matches. This is her third time in four weeks being recognized by the league, as well as her third time receiving Freshman of the Week honors.
The Blue & Gray will return to action this Thursday at DePaul at 3 p.m. Georgetown will then host Seton Hall on Sunday at Shaw Field for Senior Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) and live stats will be available at GUHoyas.com.
