Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 14 Women’s Soccer Fall at DePaul in Overtime

WASHINGTON – The No. 14 Georgetown women's soccer team fell to the DePaul Blue Demons 1-0 in overtime on Thursday afternoon at Wish Field. The Blue Demons scored the golden goal in the 92nd minute. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 10-3-3 on the season and 4-1-2 in the BIG EAST while DePaul advances to 7-6-3 overall and 4-3-2 in the league.

COACH NOLAN ON THE MATCH

This was a tough loss to take. We battled hard in a tough environment but DePaul is as blue collar as they come and I have to give them credit for finding a way to manufacture a goal in overtime. I thought our kids deserved more, but that's soccer. We will be happy to get back home for our last two games and hopefully get the points we need to win the regular season, starting on Sunday against Seton Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A pressuring defense was played on both ends, allowing each team to take no more than five shots in the 92 minutes of play. The Blue & Gray took five shots in regulation while the Blue Demons only took three in the first half.
  • In the 92nd minute, DePaul's leading scorer Morgan Turner managed to get by Hoya defenders in the box and knocked her shot past freshman keeper Anna Leat, who stepped out to save the ball.

OF NOTE
  • Sophomore Jenna Royson took a team high of two shots on the day. Senior Meaghan Nally had one shot on goal.
  • The Hoyas outshot the Blue Demons 5-4 and took four corner kicks to their two.
  • Leat faced five shots at goal but didn't make any saves while DePaul's keeper made one save.
  • This was Georgetown's third-straight overtime game.
