WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University swimming & diving team looks to continue its strong start to the season as it travels to Davidson on Saturday for a dual meet with the Wildcats. The meet is scheduled to start at noon at Davidson's Charles A. Cannon Pool.
LAST TIME OUT
- Georgetown is coming off dominant sweep of American last Friday evening as the Hoyas won 22 of 26 events. The GU men won 139-42, while the women's squad claimed a 125-63 victory.
- On the men's side, Drew Carbone won both the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke, and Joseph Hofman was GU's other multiple winner as he swept the 1- and 3-meter dives.
- The women's squad was led by Alexandra Robertson and Riley Fujioka with two wins apiece as Robertson touched the wall first in the 400-yard IM and the 100-yard freestyle while Fujioka won both diving events.
- On Tuesday, Fujioka and Hofman swept the BIG EAST weekly awards, the second-consecutive week GU has won both the male and female honors.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
- Georgetown and Davidson met in a dual meet last year when the Wildcats visited McCarthy Pool. The Hoya women cruised to a 195-94 victory, winning 15 of 16 events, while the men's side won 11 events, en route to a 167-122 win.
- On the women's side, Phoebe Slaughter led the way with three individual wins, touching the wall first in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes, as well as the 200-yard IM.
- Cristina Barrett swept the distance events with wins in the 1,000- and 500-yard freestyles. While Lauren Henasey and Belinda Donohoe also won multiple events.
- Carbone also won three events, coming in first in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke while also taking the top spot in the 200-yard IM.
- Brett Sherman, swimming in his first collegiate meet, touched the wall first in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles.
COMING UP NEXT
Following Saturday's meet, the Hoyas will travel to BIG EAST rival Villanova for a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 2. Swimming is set to begin at noon.
