WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Women's Basketball Coach
James Howard has named his captains for the 2019-20 season. The five players will lead the squad which has appeared in back-to-back BIG EAST Tournament semifinals. The Hoyas will open the season on November 5 at Davidson and will host Richmond in the home opener on November 12.
"I'm looking forward to seeing this group of seniors lead utilizing their experience," said Georgetown Head Coach
James Howard. "This is a group that has played a lot of minutes and I believe they can help guide us to another postseason berth."
Taylor Barnes
Graduate Student | Guard | 5-8
Memphis, Tenn. | St. Benedict at Auburndale (Memphis)
- Averaged 8.1 ppg and 2.9 apg at Memphis.
- Managed 31 career games in double figures.
- Graduated in 2019 with a degree in business administration.
- Played AAU with Team Penny.
Brianna Jones
Graduate Student | Guard | 5-9
North Babylon, N.Y. | North Babylon (Louisville)
- Georgetown's fourth-leading scorer last year with 4.3 ppg.
- Appeared in 35 games with 14 starts in her first season on the Hilltop.
- Averaged 2.9 rpg along with posting 19 assists and 15 steals.
- Graduated with a degree in accounting.
Anita Kelava
Senior | Forward | 6-3
Zagreb, Croatia | Croatian National Team (Maine)
- A second-year captain after serving as one her junior season.
- Led the Hoyas with 54 blocks last year.
- Appeared in all 35 games with 31 starts.
- Averaged 3.2 ppg and was third on the team on the glass with 4.6 rpg.
Marvellous Osagie-Erese
Senior | Guard | 5-4
East Orange, N.J. | East Orange STEM Academy
- A three-year letterwinner for the Hoyas.
- Earned a full athletic scholarship this season after walking on as a freshman.
- Appeared in 23 career games for the Blue & Gray.
Morgan Smith
Senior | Guard | 6-0
Upper Marlboro, Md. | Riverdale Baptist
- Averaged 4.1 ppg and 4.6 rpg a season ago.
- Played in 28 games last year with 20 starts to her credit.
- Tallied 19 steals and nine blocks on the season.
- Has appeared in 75 career games on the Hilltop with 24 starts.
