Women’s Rowing Excels in Fall Head Races

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's rowing team continued its impressive fall racing season with a trio of recent head races. The Hoyas put together strong showings at the Head of the Charles, Head of the Schuykill and the Princeton Chase over the last week of action.

HEAD OF THE CHARLES REGATTA
•    The Hoyas had a pair of lightweight crews post top-10 finishes at the HOCR.
•    The LW8+ crew finished third overall with a time of 16:10.108, less than three seconds behind the winning boat from Princeton and 1.622 seconds behind second place Harvard Radcliffe.
•    Georgetown posted faster times than two Boston University boats, Stanford, Wisconsin and MIT.
•    The LW4+ boat finished 10th overall with a time of 19:03.605.

HEAD OF THE SCHUYKILL REGATTA
•    Georgetown came out in full force at the HOSR, with every Hoya boat finishing in the top 10 of its event.
•    The Hoyas had four boats in the Championship Fours event, winning the race in 14:30.418 as well as posting third-, eighth- and ninth-place finishes.
•    Another three crews had top-10 finishes in the Club Championship Eights event, claiming third, fifth and 10th places overall.
•    Two boats finished third and fourth in the Championship Eights race, just over three seconds apart.
•    Georgetown also had a fourth-place and sixth-place showing in the Championship Quads event to close out the Regatta.

PRINCETON CHASE
•    The lightweight squad closed out its fall slate at the Princeton Chase.
•    Georgetown had a pair of 8+ crews compete in a mixed openweight and lightweight race.
•    The Hoyas posted the 10th-fastest time of the 47 combined squads in 15:27.962 and added a 36th-place finish with the second boat.
•    Georgetown was second overall out of all lightweight crews and turned over Harvard Radcliffe, finishing more than five seconds faster after starting a bow behind.
