WASHINGTON - Fifth-year student Nick Wareham of the Georgetown University cross country team was named the BIG EAST Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week, announced on Tuesday afternoon. Wareham was recognized for his performance at the 64th annual Joe Piane Invitational this past Friday. 
 
Wareham ran the 5-mile course in 24:06.80 and finished in 35th place among a stacked field. Along with leading Georgetown to an 11th-place finish, Wareham contributed to the team's achievement of moving up one place into the No. 2 spot in this week's USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll Men's Cross Country Regional Rankings. 
 
The Georgetown cross country team will travel to Madison, Wisconsin on Oct. 18 to compete in the Wisconsin Invitational.
