WASHINGTON – The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, in conjunction with the Georgetown University Alumni Association, will host the 29th edition of the Georgetown Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Reception on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Five former Hoya athletes and two former head coaches will be honored at the event.
The inductees include Ron Helmer, outstanding former director and head coach of track and field/cross country, women's lacrosse coaching luminary Kim Simons, Chris York (B'97), leading men's golfer on Georgetown's first NCAA tournament team, All-America soccer star Eric Kvello (B'99), NCAA track & field champion Autumn Fogg (C'00), nine-time All-America runner Sasha Spencer (B'01), and All-America women's lacrosse phenom Sheehan Stanwick (B'01).
The registration reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony will commence at 6:30 p.m. with the reception immediately following in the Leavey Center on Georgetown campus.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Citation is a University-wide award presented to a graduate of Georgetown or to a coach or administrator who qualifies for recognition on the basis of superior athletic achievement or contribution to athletics at Georgetown. The Georgetown Hall of Fame was established in 1953 and is located in the southwest gallery of the Leavey Student Center on GU's campus. More than 280 student-athletes and leaders from the annals of Georgetown have been enshrined.
