WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team will make the familiar trip to New York City and Madison Square Garden this week for the 2019 2K Empire Classic. The Hoyas will take on No. 22/22 Texas on Thursday evening with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m., before playing either No. 1/1 Duke or Cal on Friday.
GAME DAY INFORMATION
- Thursday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 with Jon Sciambi calling the play-by-play and Dan Dakich providing analysis.
- The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 radio station with Rich Chvotkin in his 46th season on the call.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Hoyas (3-1) had five players in double figures on Sunday night in a 91-83 victory over Georgia State at Capital One Arena.
- Mac McClung led all scorers with 25 points on 6-of-12 shooting and a perfect 11-of-11 effort from the free throw line.
- Omer Yurtseven recorded his fourth double-double in as many games as he put up 15 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds with 11 offensive boards.
- Josh LeBlanc tallied 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting and added four rebounds and a pair of blocks off the bench.
- James Akinjo and Jamorko Pickett had 11 and 10 points, respectively, to round out those in double figures. Akinjo led the squad with four assists.
- Georgetown shot 40.0 percent (24-60) from the floor and were an efficient 78.4 percent (40-51) from the charity stripe.
- The Hoyas outrebounded the Panthers 39-33, with 20 on the offensive glass, and forced 18 GSU turnovers.
- Yurtseven was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-straight week on Monday after averaging 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in two games last week. He now has four double-doubles in as many games to start the year.
SCOUTING TEXAS
- No. 22/22 Texas enters Thursday's contest with a 4-0 overall record with wins over Northern Colorado, Purdue, Cal Baptist and Prairie View.
- The Longhorns are averaging 69.0 ppg, while allowing just 55.3 ppg.
- Matt Coleman III leads Texas with 14.5 ppg average, and Andrew Jones is right behind him at 13.3 ppg.
- Jericho Sims is the Longhorns top rebounder at 7.3 rpg and has a team-high six steals.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
- Thursday will be the third meeting all-time between the Hoyas and Longhorns, with the two teams having split the first two matchups.
- Texas won the first meeting in 1972, and the Blue & Gray won the most recent meeting in 2012.
- The most recent meeting came Dec. 4, 2012 at Madison Square Garden as part of the Jimmy V. Classic where the Hoyas won 64-41.
- Overall the Hoyas are 32-31 all-time against current members of the Big 12 Conference and haven't played an opponent from the conference since facing Oklahoma State as part of the Maui Invitational in 2016.

- Georgetown is 0-1 all-time against the Bears with the only meeting coming as part of the 2000 NIT.
