WASHINGTON – For the third-consecutive week, Georgetown University men's basketball center
Omer Yurtseven was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday following the 2K Empire Classic that saw the Blue & Gray defeat then-No. 22 Texas by 16 and fall just short to the undefeated No.1 Duke Blue Devils.
Yurtseven averaged 15.5 points and a team-best 4.5 rebounds per game. The senior shot 73.7 percent from the floor and tallied six blocks in a pair of games.
Against the No. 1 Blue Devils, Yurtseven tallied all 21 points in the second half in a mere 24 minutes of action. In a mere 13 minutes of play against the No. 22 Longhorns, he was an efficient 5-of-6 from the field to tally 10 points. For his efforts over the two-day tournament, Yurtseven and teammate
James Akinjo were both named to the 2K Empire Classic All-Tournament Team.
This is Yurtseven's third nod to the honor roll and the third of the season for the Blue & Gray.
