WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team had a program-record nine student-athletes selected to the All-Patriot League postseason teams, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Three Hoyas earned first team recognition while six were selected to the second team. In all, three offensive players, four defensive players and two special teamers were honored. The all-conference teams were voted on by the league's seven head coaches.
MICHAEL DEREUS – FIRST TEAM, WIDE RECEIVER
- Dereus earns his second career All-Patriot League selection and his first nod to the first team.
- He finished the 2019 season with 41 receptions for a team-high 726 yards, averaging 17.7 yards per catch.
- He tied for the team lead with five touchdown receptions.
- He finishes his career ranked among the top 10 in program history in career receptions (115; 7th), receiving yards (1,879; 5th) and yards per catch (16.3; 5th).
- Dereus scored 15 career touchdowns (13 receiving, 1 rushing, 1 KR). He is tied for fifth at GU in touchdown receptions.
DUVAL PAUL – FIRST TEAM, DEFENSIVE LINE
- Paul earns his second-straight all-conference selection after being named to the second team in 2018.
- He played and started in nine games this season, finishing with 31 tackles, 3.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks.
- Paul had a season-high six tackles in the season finale at Holy Cross, including five solo takedowns.
- He registered sacks against both Cornell and Fordham.
AHMAD WILSON – FIRST TEAM, DEFENSIVE BACK
- Wilson earns his third All-Patriot League nod after being named to the second team in 2018 and the first team in 2017 as a special teams player.
- He ranked second on the team with 62 tackles as a safety while also finishing with 3.0 TFL and a forced fumble.
- Wilson had one of GU's 12 interceptions on the season and added four pass breakups.
- He had a career-high 12 tackles against Colgate, earning Patriot League Honorable Mention honors.
ISAAC SCHLEY – SECOND TEAM, FULLBACK / HALFBACK
- Schley earns his first career Patriot League postseason award after being named to the preseason team prior to this year.
- He tied for fourth on the team with nine receptions for 80 yards, with most of his catches coming on third down conversions.
- Schley was a big part of the running game led the Patriot League in rushing offense (147.4 ypg) and improved by 588 yards and 53.5 ypg.
RYAN JELINEK – SECOND TEAM, OFFENSIVE LINE
- Jelinek becomes the first Hoya offensive lineman to earn All-Patriot League honors since 2015 (Kevin Liddy).
- The senior was voted a team captain in 2019 and played and started in all 11 games at left tackle.
- He led Georgetown's offensive line that allowed a PL-low 19 sacks on the season.
- The Hoya offense led the PL in rushing offense (147.4 ypg) and ranked second in scoring offense (24.2 ppg) and total offense (343.5 ypg).
KHRISTIAN TATE – SECOND TEAM, DEFENSIVE LINE
- Tate earns his fourth All-Patriot League postseason honor of his career after being named to the first team each of the past two years and the second team as a freshman.
- Despite only playing six games due to injury, Tate finished with 32 tackles, 4.0 TFL and 3.0 sacks.
- He also blocked a PAT attempt against Fordham that was returned for a defensive extra point.
- Tate earned Patriot League Honorable Mention honors after recording seven tackles, 2.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble in a victory at Columbia.
- He finishes his career on the Hilltop with 177 tackles, 38.5 TFL and 19.0 sacks which ranks ninth all-time in program history.
XAVIER REDDICK – SECOND TEAM, LINEBACKER
- Reddick earns his first career All-Patriot League honor after leading the GU defense with 70 tackles.
- He was a force in the backfield as he ranked second on the Hoyas with 7.5 TFL and 3.0 sacks.
- He had at least nine tackles on four different occasions, including a 10-tackle performance in the season opener at Davidson.
- Reddick finished with nine tackles, 2.0 TFL and a sack against Columbia.
BRAD HURST – SECOND TEAM, PUNTER
- Hurst earns his first career Patriot League honor after a strong year where he averaged 40.7 yards on 51 punts.
- He totaled 2,076 yards, including 11 punts that traveled at least 50 yards and 17 punts that pinned the opponent inside their own 20-yard line.
- He recorded two punts over 70 yards, including a Georgetown-record 76-yard punt in the season opener at Davidson.
- Hurst finishes his career having punted 208 times for 8,534 yards, which ranks third and fourth, respectively, in GU history. His career average of 41.0 yards per punt is the second highest all-time at Georgetown.
PALMER NIX – SECOND TEAM, SPECIAL TEAMS NON-SPECIALIST
- Nix earns his first career All-Patriot League award and it is the fourth-consecutive year a Hoya has been recognized as a special teams non-specialist.
- Nix played in all 11 games, registering 19 tackles, 2.0 TFL and a quarterback hurry.
- He was a force on special teams, playing on multiple units while also being in the regular rotation in the linebacker corps.
2019 RECAP
Georgetown wrapped up the 2019 season with a 5-6 overall record, and a 1-5 mark in the Patriot League. The Hoyas graduate 16 seniors from the 2019 squad, but return 61 percent of the team's scoring and 86 percent of the tackles in 2020.
