Georgetown Travels to LMU Thanksgiving Classic

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will play a pair of games in the LMU Thanksgiving Classic this weekend in Los Angeles, Calif.  The Hoyas will play Loyola Marymount on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET, before taking on Fresno State on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.  The Hoyas are currently 1-4 on the season, and in the midst of a five-game road swing.

About the Hoyas
  • The Hoyas dropped another close one falling to George Washington University on Sunday afternoon at the Smith Center. 
  • Graduate student Brianna Jones led the Blue & Gray with 12 points, while sophomore Shanniah Wright finished with 11 points and five rebounds as the two Hoyas in double figures.
  • Georgetown was outrebounded 38-37, but forced 22 Colonial turnovers while committing 12 on 10 steals.
  • The Hoyas shot 29.5 percent (18 for 61) from the field but allowed GW 43.8 percent (21 for 48).
  • Graduate student Taylor Barnes is leading the Hoyas with 9.3 ppg, while Jones is right behind with 9.0 ppg.
  • Senior Anita Kelava has 8.4 rpg on the year and is followed by Wright with 5.0 rpg.

  • Loyola Marymount is 2-4 on the year and 1-1 at home.
