Women’s Rowing Closes Out Fall Slate at Head of the Occoquan

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's rowing team closed out the fall racing season as the openweights competed at the Head of the Occoquan on Saturday. The Hoyas dominated the head races, winning three of their five events and posting five total top three finishes.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
•    Georgetown opened the day with a victory in the varsity 8+ race. The Hoyas posted a time of 17:06.25 to finish 13.52 faster than the second-place boat.
•    The Hoyas added another first place finish in the second varsity 8+ race, crossing the finish line in 17:41.62 – just shy of 20 seconds faster than the competition. Georgetown also had a crew finish fifth overall in the race.
•    In the freshman/novice 8+ event, the Hoyas finished third after being docked a 30 second penalty. The Hoyas time of 18:11.25 ended up 13.39 seconds behind the winning boat.
•    Georgetown added another first place finish in the varsity 4+ race. The Hoyas dispatched their opponents with a time of 19:07.49, a 22.69 difference with the second-place finishers.
•    Closing out the regatta, the second varsity 4+ boat posted a third-place finish with a time of 21:30.41.
