WASHINGTON – Senior forward
Paula Germino-Watnick of the No. 19 Georgetown women's soccer team earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sunday after recording a hat trick last week in the BIG EAST regular season finale against St. John's. The Hoyas defeated the Red Storm 3-2 in overtime after Germino-Watnick took a penalty kick in the 93rd minute to score the golden goal.
Along with her game-winning goal in overtime on Thursday, Germino-Watnick tallied a pair of goals in the first half against the Johnnies. She took a total of five shots on the day with three of them on goal. The senior ranks second on the team with 26 points on the year from nine goals and eight assists.
The Blue & Gray will head to Omaha, Nebraska on Thursday for the BIG EAST Semifinals. No. 2-seeded Georgetown will face the winner between No. 3 Butler and No. 6 Providence, which will be determined on Sunday.
