WASHINGTON – Georgetown University swimming & diving sophomore Brett Sherman was named the BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The award, the sixth of the season for the Hoyas, recognizes Sherman's performance in GU's meet at Villanova on Saturday.
 
Sherman helped the Hoya men to a 175-125 victory over their BIG EAST rival, leading the way with three individual victories. He touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle by a two-second margin before just outstretching his teammate, Michael Wheeler, by just .19 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle. He capped off the meet with a comfortable victory in the 400-yard IM. Sherman currently holds the top time in the BIG EAST in all three events.
