Omaha, Neb. – Three-time defending BIG EAST Champions are heading to Omaha, Nebraska for the BIG EAST Semifinals on Thursday as the No. 2 seed in the bracket. The No. 18 Georgetown University women's soccer team (12-3-3, 6-1-2 BIG EAST) will face the sixth-seeded Providence Friars (9-8-2, 3-5-1 BIG EAST) at 8:30 p.m. ET at Morrison Stadium. The winner will advance to the BIG EAST Finals on Sunday to face the winner between top-seeded Xavier and fourth-seeded Villanova.

About the Hoyas
- Georgetown is looking for its fourth-straight BIG EAST Championship title but has to get by Providence in the semifinals on Thursday first.
- The Hoyas moved up to No. 18 this week in the United Soccer Coaches Poll after sitting at No. 19 last week.
- The Blue & Gray is coming off of a 3-2 win last Thursday against St. John's. GU defeated the Red Storm in overtime thanks to senior Paula Germino-Watnick who recorded a hat trick, including the game-winning goal off of a penalty kick in in the 93rd minute.
- Germino-Watnick was named the BIG EAST's Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday for her efforts in the victory. She was also named United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week on Tuesday.
- On Monday, the Hoyas clinched two major conference awards along with seven league accolades, the most in the BIG EAST. Meaghan Nally was named the Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row while Germino-Watnick unanimously claimed Midfielder of the Year honors. The two seniors also earned spots on the All-BIG EAST First Team, joined by graduate student Amanda Carolan. Sophomore Jenna Royson and freshman Anna Leat made the second team while Leat and Julia Leas were unanimously selected to the all-freshman team.
- Carolan leads the Blue & Gray with 27 points from 10 goals and seven assists. Germino-Watnick is close behind with 26 points from nine goals and eight assists.
Scouting Providence
- The sixth-seeded Friars upset No. 3-seeded Butler on Sunday in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament. Providence tied with Butler 1-1 in the 82nd minute and defeated the Bulldogs 5-4 in PKs. BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year Shelby Hogan was able to save a PK in the sixth round to propel the Friars to the next round.
- Hannah McNulty scored the equalizer for PC to force the teams into two rounds of scoreless overtime.
- McNulty leads the squad with 18 points from nine goals. She was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team on Monday while Hogan earned a spot on the first team. Lisa Verhoeven and Alexis Rothmann were selected to the all-freshman team.
Series History vs. Friars
- Thursday will be the 20th meeting between the two teams. GU leads the all-time series 13-3-3.
- The Hoyas met the Friars earlier this season on Oct. 6 in Rhode Island. GU blanked Providence 4-0 thanks to a pair of first half goals from Carolan. Junior Jenna Menta and Germino-Watnick also contributed to the scoring.

The winner of Thursday's match will face the winner between No. 1-seeded Xavier and No. 4-seeded Villanova, which will be played prior to Georgetown's game. The championship game will be played on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at Morrison Stadium and will be aired live on FS1.
