WASHINGTON – No. 18 Georgetown University women's soccer senior
Paula Germino-Watnick has earned yet another award this week this time, recognizing her work in the classroom as well as on the field. She earned a spot on the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. Being selected First Team Academic All-District advances Germino-Watnick to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in early December.
Germino-Watnick is one of 13 women's DI soccer players selected in District 2, which recognizes players in Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The Chevy Chase, Maryland native holds a 3.82 GPA and is majoring in biology of global health at Georgetown.
Earlier this week, the senior was named the BIG EAST's Offensive Player of the Week and unanimously claimed the league's Midfielder of the Year title along with a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team. On Tuesday, she was named the National Player of the Week by United Soccer Coaches. Germino-Watnick ranks second on the team with 26 points on the year from nine goals and eight assists.
Germino-Watnick will lead the Blue & Gray in Thursday night's BIG EAST Semifinals against sixth-seeded Providence in Omaha, Nebraska at Morrsion Stadium. No. 2-seeded Georgetown will take the field at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) and live stats will be available at GUHoyas.com.
