Hoyas Host Rider on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host its final nonconference game of the year on Saturday when the squad welcomes the Rider Broncs to McDonough Arena for a 2 p.m. matchup.  Georgetown is currently 2-7 on the season and is returning home from a five-game road swing.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off of a tough 0-2 weekend in New York City.
  • On Friday, the Hoyas fell to Columbia 54-49 in a game that saw both teams struggling from the field.
  • Graduate student Taylor Barnes led the Blue & Gray with 17 points and four steals as the lone Hoya in double figures and senior Anita Kelava pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
  • GU committed just six turnovers in the game, but shot 27 percent (19-71) from the field.
  • Sunday was another tough one as the Blue & Gray dropped a 67-54 decision at Fordham.
  • Barnes led the Blue & Gray again with 13 points as well as pulling down six rebounds.
  • Graduate student Brianna Jones had 11 points and a squad-best seven boards, while junior Tatiana Thompson rounded out those in double figures with 10 points on the day. 
 
About the Broncs
  • Three players scored in double figures as Rider defeated La Salle 70-43 last Saturday at home.
  • Stella Johnson had 22 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in the contest as well as five steals and a pair of blocks.
  • Following the 64-57 win over Xavier on November 16, Rider moved into CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll. The Broncs are currently ranked 22nd in the poll and entered the poll two weeks ago. Rider is ranked in the poll for the fourth time in program history and the first time since during the program's 2016-17 season. The 22nd ranking is the highest-ever for Rider in the poll.

  • Georgetown is an impressive 6-0 all-time against the Broncs with a mark of 4-0 at home.
  • Last year in New Jersey, the Hoyas picked up the 79-49 win.
  • Three Hoyas scored in double figures as Dorothy Adomako led the way tying her career high with 25 points, eight rebounds and five steals while Dionna White posted the double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.
  • The last meeting in The District was a 58-51 victory during the 2011-12 campaign.
