Men’s Tennis Spring Schedule Announced

WASHINGTON –  Head Coach Courtney Dolehide of the Georgetown University tennis team announced the men's 2020 spring schedule. The Hoyas will battle 18 teams in dual matches this spring with seven of their nine home matches being hosted at Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland. GU will welcome the opposition into Yates Field House on two occasions this season. 

"We are excited to see what this team can do this season, " said Dolehide. "We've put together a robust schedule and look forward to our road matches and returning home to play in front of the Hoya family.

The Hoyas will get spring competition rolling on January 18 when they travel to Norfolk, Virginia to battle two opponents, starting with host Old Dominion on January 18, followed by a matchup against Hampton on January 19. 

The Blue & Gray will begin February on the road in West Point, New York against Binghamton on February 1. 

GU will then square off against familiar competition from the fall, facing Army in West Point on February 2 before making a return trip to Annapolis, Maryland to battle Navy on February 8. 

Georgetown's first shot at a home win will come against Drexel at Yates Field House on February 11. The Hoyas will then zero in on conference play when they travel to Xavier on February 14 for their first BIG EAST match. Butler will host the following day on February 15, rapping up early BIG EAST play for the Hoyas.

GU will return home for its next three dual matches starting with an in-state showdown against George Washington at the Junior Tennis Champions Center on February 28. James Madison will visit the Hoyas on February 29 with Temple (March 6) rounding out the home stretch.

BIG EAST play will resume on March 10 when the Hoyas travel to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida to take on Creighton on March 10 and Marquette on March 12. 

The Hoyas will welcome William & Mary into Yates Field House on March 17 before wrapping up the final third of their schedule at the Junior Tennis Champions Center against Morgan State on March 27, Howard on April 3 and Duquesne on April 9. 

Georgetown will close the regular season out against rivals Villanova on April 11. The BIG EAST Tournament will be held at Cayce Tennis Center in Cayce, South Carolina and will run from April 16-19. 
 

Of Note: 

  • Upon completing the fall slate, Freshman Kieran Foster is sporting a 7-1 record in singles competition.   

  • Junior Connor Lee went 4-1 and senior Ian Witmer was 5-2 in the fall.

  • Sophomore Justin Cheun finished 4-2 and junior Luke Ross is currently riding a four-match win streak in singles play heading into the spring.
