WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team will open BIG EAST play as the Hoyas travel to Providence for a New Year's Eve matchup with the Friars. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The Blue & Gray come in on a six-game winning streak and sit at 10-3 overall on the year.

- Saturday's game will be broadcast on FS1 with Pat O'Keefe calling the play-by-play and Donny Marshall providing analysis.
- The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 radio station with Rich Chvotkin in his 46th season on the call.

LAST TIME OUT
- Georgetown used a 25-6 run spanning the first and second halves to pull away and cruise to its sixth-straight win, 80-60 over American University on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Arena.
- Omer Yurtseven led three in double figures with a game-best 17 points. He also grabbed a game-best eight rebounds.
- Terrell Allen added 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting and he dished out a game-best five assists and added a pair of steals.
- Jahvon Blair contributed 14 points off the bench to round out those in double figures.
- Jamorko Pickett finished with nine points and seven rebounds, while Timothy Ighoefe had a career-best eight points.
- Georgetown shot 53.7 percent (29-54) for the game and scored 17 second-chance points to AU's seven.
- The Hoyas outrebounded American 42-25 and held the Eagles to 41.4 percent (24-58) shooting for the game.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- In their six-game winning streak, the Hoyas are averaging 86.8 ppg and 18.7 apg while shooting 49.4 percent from the floor.
- Yurtseven is the only player in the BIG EAST to have scored in double figures in every one of his team's games. He leads the Hoyas with 18.2 ppg and 10.2 rpg, while McClung is second in scoring with 15.5 ppg
- Blair is among Georgetown's career top 25 in 3-pointers made as his 102 career treys is tied for 20th all-time. Jagan Mosely has 274 career assists, which is 23rd on GU's career list.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
- Providence comes in with a 7-6 overall record, most recently defeating Texas 70-48 on Dec. 21 at the Barclays Center.
- The Friars average 72.7 ppg, while allowing opponents to score 65.6 ppg. They are second in the BIG EAST with 9.8 spg.
- Alpha Diallo leads Providence in both scoring (14.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.2 rpg), and also has team highs of 27 steals and 11 blocks. David Duke (12.3 ppg) and Nate Watson (10.0 ppg) round out those in double figures.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
- Tuesday will be the 75th all-time meeting between the longtime conference rivals with the Hoyas holding a 46-28 series advantage. Georgetown won both matchups last season, which snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Friars.
- The Hoyas won a 96-90 double overtime thriller in the first meeting last year at Capital One Arena. Jessie Govan led GU with 33 points and 14 rebounds in 42 minutes. Mac McClung was also in double figures with 16 points.
- Georgetown had five players in double figures in a 76-67 victory in Providence in the second meeting. McClung and Govan each finished with 13 points while Jamorko Pickett added 12.
- Head Coach Patrick Ewing is 2-2 against Providence as GU's head coach and went 9-1 against the Friars as a player.
