WASHINGTON – Senior
Paula Germino-Watnick of the Georgetown University women's soccer team was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team, announced Thursday. Earlier in November, Germino-Watnick earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, which made her eligible for the All-America ballot.
The Chevy Chase, Maryland native is a biology of global health major and holds a 3.82 GPA. She was unanimously selected as the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection. Earlier this week, Germino-Watnick was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Team. She ranked second on the team with 26 points off of nine goals and eight assists.
Germino-Watnick is the first Hoya in program history to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American. She is also one of two BIG EAST players that made the list this year, joined by third team selection Annika Schmidt from Butler.
The Hoyas finished the 2019 season 13-5-3 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the eighth-straight year.
