WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University men's tennis team (2-3, 1-2 BIG EAST) continued its winning streak with a BIG EAST conference win over the Xavier Musketeers 4-3 on Sunday morning.
Luke Ross (Sewickley, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) clinched the match at No. 5 singles to put the Hoyas on top.
In doubles, the Hoyas got out to an early lead winning at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the overall point. At No. 1,
Rohan Kamdar (Singapore / Anglo Chinese School) and
Connor Lee (San Marino, Calif. / San Marino) defeated their opponents 6-2 while
Will Sharton (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland) and
Andrew Rozanov (London, England / Westminster) also trumped the Musketeers 6-2. Kamdar and Lee are now 2-1 as a pair in the 2019 campaign.
Kamdar continued his perfect outing with a victory at No. 1 over Brett Winters after dropping the first set 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 3, Rozanov defeated Connor Lafavre in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 to remain undefeated in BIG EAST play. With singles deadlocked at two, Ross defeated Jan Vrba at No. 5 in a come-from-behind win 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The Hoyas are back in action on Thursday, Feb. 14 as they take on the Longwood Lancers at 3 p.m. at Yates Field House. The match will follow the women's matchup against Longwood at noon.
