WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field teams were in Ames, Iowa and Boston on Saturday as they competed in the Iowa State Classic, held in Ames, Iowa and the Valentines Invitational, hosted by Boston University. The Hoyas were able to record a number of solid performances highlighted by a great display of distance running.
In the Iowa State Classic, sophomore
Jack Van Scoter (Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) was able to crack the top five in the men's 3,000-meter run clocking a time of 8:10.48. Graduate student
Josette Norris (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) ran strong in the women's 5,000-meter run finishing in the top 10 with a time of 16:02.10.
Paige Hofstad (New Braunfels, Texas / New Braunfels) finished right behind in 11th place in a time of 16:07.07.
Ruach Padhal (London, Ontario / John Paul II Catholic) highlighted Saturday's events for the Blue & Gray with an eighth-place finish in the men's 800-meter run.
In the Valentine's Day Invitational, the Blue & Gray was able to record a trio of personal bests in the mile event. All-American
Spencer Brown (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) posted his best result to date with a sub-four minute time of 3:59.97. All-American
Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) and
Jack Salisbury (Rumford, R.I. / La Salle Academy) also ran personal bests of their own in times of 4:01.60 and 4:03.19, respectively.
Georgetown returns to the track next weekend for another pair of meets as both squads head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the JDL Fast Track Invitational on Friday, Feb. 15 and South Bend, Indiana for the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16.
