WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field teams will head to Geneva, Ohio for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships for two days of competition this weekend. Georgetown will participate in a number of events throughout both days starting with the women's mile trials at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. The first men's event kicks off at 11:45 a.m. with the mile trials. The championship meet will be held at the SPIRE Institute.
Men's Preview
The men's squad will feature a number of standout performers, including All-Americans
Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury),
Joe White (Clifton, N.J. / DePaul Catholic) and
Quincey Wilson (Lithonia, Ga. / Arabia Mountain) as they compete in their respective events. Wareham will take to the track in the mile trials and will look to build off of his personal best time of 4:01 he set two weeks ago at the Valentine's Day Invite in Boston. White will race in the 800-meter run trials and is coming off a strong performance in the men's distance medley relay (DMR) at the JDL Fast Track Invitational last weekend. Wilson highlights a competitive field in the men's 400-meter dash trials as he has recorded a number of top-three finishes in the same event.
Also running in the 800-meter run trials is sophomore
Ruach Padhal (London, Ontario / John Paul II Catholic), who is coming off one of his best performances of his collegiate career posting the fastest 800-meter time of 1:49.39 in the men's DMR at the JDL Fast Track Invite. Competing in the 3,000-meter run are juniors
Jack Van Scoter (Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) and
Jack Salisbury (Rumford, R.I. / La Salle Academy) who both recorded strong showings in the 3,000-meter run and the mile, respectively, two weeks ago.
Women's Preview
On the women's side, All-American
Kennedy Weisner (St. Mary's, Pa. / Elk County Catholic) and sophomore
Lexi Del Gizzo (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) highlight the 800-meter trials.
Taylor Williams (Hatboro, Pa. / Hatboro-Horsham) will lead the way for the Hoyas in the 200-meter dash trials as she is coming off a season-best time of 24.43 at the Villanova Invitational earlier this month. Hoping to follow suit will be
Cassidy Palmer (Bloomfield, Conn. / Bloomfield) who has also posted a number of strong finishes in both the 60-meter and the 200-meter dashes throughout the season.
Paige Hofstad (New Braunfels, Texas / New Braunfels) and
Josette Norris (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) will compete in the 3,000-meter run and are both coming off great 5,000-meter performances at the Iowa State Classic finishing with times of 16:02.10 and 16:07.07, respectively.
"The BIG EAST Indoor Championships is all about team running, hitting marks, team points, and inching our way towards a team championship," Director of Track & Field
