WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University men's tennis team (3-5, 1-2 BIG EAST) were swept by the Monmouth Hawks (5-1) on Friday afternoon 7-0 in College Park, Maryland.
Monmouth picked up its first point in doubles action as the Hawks defeated
Justin Cheun (Fairfax, Va. / Seoul International School) and
Luke Ross (Sewickley, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) 6-2 at No. 3 and
Andrew Rozanov (London, England / Westminster) and partner
Carlos Grande (Miami, Fla. / Belen Jesuit) 7-5 at No. 2.
MU clinched the match at No. 1 singles as Lee fell to his opponent 7-5, 6-1.
Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) battled Nicola Pipoli to three sets after winning the first 6-2 at No. 2 while Rozanov also won his first set 6-4 at No. 3 but ultimately dropped the last two to give the Hawks their final point of the day.
The Hoyas face off against the Drexel Dragons Saturday, Feb. 23 at the College Park Tennis Club in College Park, Maryland. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be followed up by the women's match against Drexel at 5 p.m.
