WASHINGTON – Georgetown University women's basketball senior guard
Dionna White (Baltimore, Md. / Milford Mill) was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the league office. This is the third player of the week award for the Hoyas this season and the third of her career.
White led the Hoyas to back-to-back wins, averaging a league-best 24.0 points to go along with 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.5 assists. The guard celebrated senior day on Sunday with 29 points off 8-of-16 shooting, 3-of-6 from deep, seven rebounds, three dimes and three steals as Georgetown defeated St. John's 82-80 for the first time in the last 11 tries. She added 19 points, six boards, four assists and four steals in Friday's come-from-behind 51-43 win over Seton Hall.
White increased her career points total to 1,893 to climb to No. 2 all-time on the Hilltop, while her 1,129 BIG EAST points rank 13th all-time. She is also fifth on the NCAA's active career leaders listing in steals and Georgetown's all-time steals leader. White is averaging 15.5 ppg as well as 7.3 rpg to rank second on the team in both categories this season.
Georgetown will close out league play next weekend as the squad travels to Butler and Xavier. The Blue & Gray will face the Bulldogs on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) and live stats will be available at
