Hoyas Host DePaul in Midweek Tilt

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's basketball team (16-11, 6-8 BIG EAST) returns to the Nation's Capital to close out the home portion of its schedule, hosting DePaul (13-12, 5-9 BIG EAST) at Capital One Arena on Wednesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and a link to live stats is available at GUHoyas.com.

The game can be seen live on CBS Sports Network with Carter Blackburn calling the play-by-play and Pete Gillen providing analysis. Fans can listen locally on WOL 1450 AM and SiriusXM channel 201 / 964 with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call.
 
Georgetown is coming off an 82-69 loss at Creighton on Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska. Jahvon Blair (Brampton, Ontario / Athlete Institute Prep) led the Hoyas with 16 points off the bench, including a trio of 3-pointers, all in the second half. Greg Malinowski (Chantilly, Va. / Episcopal / William & Mary) rounded out those in double figures with 12 points on a 4-of-9 effort from downtown. Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La. / Madison Prep Academy) led the Hoyas off the glass as he grabbed seven rebounds in the effort. James Akinjo's (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) eight assists paced the offense.
 
Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) leads three Hoyas in double figures with 17.9 points per game while averaging 7.7 rebounds per game, ranking fifth and third in the BIG EAST, respectively. Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) and Akinjo add 13.1 and 12.8 ppg in the backcourt. LeBlanc ranks second on GU in rebounding, and fourth in the BIG EAST, with 7.3 boards a contest and continues to be efficient in the offensive zone ranking second in the conference in field goal percentage at 63.8 percent. Akinjo leads the BIG EAST in assists with 144 on the season, averaging 5.3 apg.
 
DePaul comes to the District with a week off from its last game, a 79-67 loss to Creighton as well. The Blue Demons have lost three-straight games after posting back-to-back victories against Providence and Xavier to begin the month of February.
 
Max Strus leads DPU with 17.3 ppg while Femi Olujobi adds 13.4 ppg, Eli Cain chips in 12.6 ppg and Paul Reed is good for 11.2 ppg. Reed leads DePaul with an even 8.0 rpg while Strus hauls in 6.4 boards a contest as well. Devin Gage and Cain are neck-and-neck with the assist lead, averaging 3.8 and 3.6 apg, respectively.
 
Georgetown and DePaul have not played each other yet this season, but will meet twice in the span of a week. Wednesday's contest marks the 40th overall meeting against the Blue Demons, with the Hoyas holding the series lead, 30-9. Last season, Georgetown fell to DePaul 74-73 at Capital One Arena. Jamorko Pickett (Washington, D.C. Massanutten Military Academy [Va.]) poured in 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including five 3-pointers in the loss. On the road, the Blue & Gray was able to secure a win, 90-81, with Govan leading all players with 25 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Following Wednesday's game, the Hoyas close out their home slate on Saturday. March 2 against Seton Hall on 'Senior Night' at 6:30 p.m.
