Track & Field to Compete in IC4A & ECAC Indoor Championships This Weekend

WASHINGTON –  The Georgetown University track & field teams will travel to Boston for the IC4A & ECAC Indoor Championships, hosted by Boston University this weekend. The meet will span over two days with preliminary rounds starting on Saturday. The first day of action kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with the men's mile trials while the women's first event begins at 4:50 p.m. for the women's 800-meter trials. The Hoyas are fresh off of a series of strong performances at the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships one week ago.

The Hoyas will be featured in six track events and one field event. Freshman Maazin Ahmed (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schenectady) will get things started in the men's mile trials. Ahmed is coming off a second-place performance as a runner in the distance medley relay (DMR) last Friday. Kino Cheltenham (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Brooklyn Tech) will compete in the men's 400-meter dash trials and was a key contributor in the first-place 4x400-meter relay team a week ago. Brennan Munley (Clarkson, Mich. / Waterford Mott) and Ethan Delgado (El Paso, Texas / El Dorado) highlight the men's 800-meter trials while sprinters Nate Alleyne (Downingtown, Pa. / Bishop Shanahan) and D'Andre Barriffe (Jamaica, N.Y. / Bishop Loughlin Memorial) will compete in the men's 200-meter dash trials. On Tuesday, the six men garnered All-BIG EAST honors after posting top-three finishes last weekend.

On the women's side, Lexi Del Gizzo (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) and Cathilyn McIntosh (Loomis, Calif. / Del Oro) will both run in the women's 800-meter trials. Del Gizzo was able to collect points for the Hoyas in the 800-meter run and the 4x400-meter relay a week ago. McIntosh also scored points in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay with Del Gizzo. Eni Akinniyi (Denton, Texas / John H. Guyer) will represent the Blue & Gray in the field, competing in the women's triple jump. Last weekend, Akinniyi posted a third-place finish in this event.

Following this meet, Georgetown will begin the outdoor track & field season at the Penn Challenge on Saturday, March 23 in Philadelphia.
