WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field teams competed at the Florida Relays on Thursday and Friday, hosted by the University of Florida. The races were held at the Percy Beard Track. Graduate student
Josette Norris (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) ran in the Stanford Invitational on Friday, hosted by Stanford.
Norris set an all-time mark in the 5,000-meter run invite notching a personal record of 15:46.75. That time is the fourth-fastest 5,000-meter time in program history.
At the relays, the men's squad ran in four different events throughout the two-day period, including the 200-meter dash, the 800-meter run, the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay. The days were highlighted by a number of solid performances in the 800-meter run with all five Hoyas coming within a second of each other. All-American
Ruach Padhal (London, Ontario / John Paul II Catholic) was the first from Georgetown to cross the line in a time of 1:49.0 finishing in 12th place. All-American
Lawrence Leake (Huntington, N.Y. / Huntington) recorded a personal best time in the 400-meter hurdles finishing in 54.10, eclipsing his previous mark of 54.38.
On the women's side, the 800-meter run was the lone event for the lady Hoyas and freshman
Sami Corman (Bellevue, Wash. / Issaquah) finished in the top 30 with a time of 2:09.93. Sophomore
Olivia Arizin (Media, Pa. / Cardinal O'Hara) and fellow freshman
Cathilyn McIntosh (Loomis, Calif. / Del Oro) came across the line in 2:14.71 and 2:15.43, respectively.
Georgetown will return to the track next weekend for a pair of races on Saturday, April 6th. Select members will head to the Sam Howell Invitational, hosted by Princeton University and one squad will head to Tempe, Arizona for the Sun Angel Classic, hosted by Arizona State.
