WASHINGTON – Freshman Mae Forshey (Phoenix, Ariz. / Arcadia) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for her efforts over the weekend in the District Classic at Nats Youth Academy. The honor marks the rookie catcher's first recognition by the league and second for the Georgetown University softball team this season. The Hoyas went 2-1 over the weekend and hold a 5-12 overall record.
 
Forshey hit .444 during three games over the weekend and tallied four hits, recording a double in each game. The freshman scored a pair of runs and added three RBIs in nine total at bats. Forshey leads the squad with 21 hits and seven doubles on the season, while ranking second with 10 RBIs and third with a .375 batting average.
 
The Blue & Gray will head back to Florida over spring break for the Jacksonville Tournament. The Hoyas will play a midweek game against North Florida on Wednesday, March 6 at 5 p.m. and then will play five games over the course of three days in the tournament, beginning on Friday, March 8 until Sunday, March 10.
