WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's tennis team fell to Barry University 6-1 in the first matchup of the Hoyas' Florida road swing on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, GU slips to 2-8 while Barry remains unbeaten and improves to 5-0.
In doubles, the Buccaneers made quick work of the Hoyas and picked up the first team point with three straight wins.
Barry continued its winning ways in singles, winning five of six matchups.
Sofie Moenster (Oslo, Norway / Ordrup Gymnasium) gave the GU its only team point on the day, defeating Zuza Maciejewska at No. 1 in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.
The Hoyas will end their Florida road swing on Monday, March 4 as they take on Lynn University at 2 p.m. The match will be held in Boca Raton at the Perper Tennis Complex.
