WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's basketball team (18-11, 8-8 BIG EAST) heads to the Windy City to take on DePaul (14-13, 6-10 BIG EAST) for the second time in eight days on Wednesday. The Hoyas claimed the meeting in the Nation's Capital last week with a 82-73 victory at Capital One Arena.
Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET and the game can be seen live on FS1 with Justin Kutcher calling the play-by-play and Donny Marshall providing analysis. Fans can listen locally on The Team 980 and SiriusXM channel 98 / 202 / 965 with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call.
Georgetown is coming off a thrilling 77-71 double-overtime victory over Seton Hall on Senior Night in the District on Wednesday.
Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) led a trio of Hoyas in double figures as he tallied 21 points in the game with 15 coming in the overtime frames. He added 12 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.
James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) added 16 points and a team-best four steals while his four assists paced the offense.
Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La. / Madison Prep Academy) managed 14 to round out those in double figures while his career-high 17 rebounds led the team and solidified his sixth double-double of the year.
LeBlanc was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for his efforts while Govan was recognized on the weekly honor roll.
Govan leads three Hoyas in double figures with 18.3 points per game while averaging 7.8 rebounds per game, ranking sixth and third in the BIG EAST, respectively.
Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) and Akinjo add 13.0 and 12.9 ppg in the backcourt. LeBlanc ranks second on GU in rebounding, and fifth in the BIG EAST, with 7.6 boards a contest and continues to be efficient in the offensive zone ranking fourth in the conference in field goal percentage at 62.3 percent. Akinjo leads the BIG EAST in assists with 154 on the season.
DePaul hosts the Hoyas after pulling off a 92-83 upset over St. John's on its own Senior Day. Max Strus poured in 43 points against the Red Storm and was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week for his efforts. He also tallied 25 points in the midweek loss to Georgetown.
Strus leads DPU with 18.5 ppg while Femi Olujobi adds 13.5 ppg, Eli Cain chips in 12.2 ppg and Paul Reed is good for 11.2 ppg. Reed leads DePaul with an even 8.0 rpg while Strus hauls in 6.1 boards a contest as well.
Following Wednesday's game, the Hoyas close the regular season on Saturday. March 9 at No. 16/15 Marquette at 2:30 p.m. ET.
