WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's track & field team will compete in a pair of events at the NCAA Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Alabama Birmingham, on March 8-9. The Hoyas will have a quartet of runners in the distance medley relay (DMR) and one competitor in the 800-meter run. The races will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
All-American
Joe White (Clifton, N.J. / DePaul Catholic) will run in the 800-meter event in what will be his fourth NCAA indoor meet appearance. He placed third in this category two years ago at the indoor championships at College Station, Texas. His current time of 1:46.59 recorded at the 112th NYRR Millrose Games in New York City a month ago is fourth in the NCAA. Earlier this year, White posted a facility record at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track at Penn State in a time of 1:46.91. For his efforts this season, he was named the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year and has garnered three BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week honors.
The men's DMR team will be made up of
Jack Salisbury (Rumford, R.I. / La Salle Academy) on the 1,200-meter leg,
Lawrence Leake (Huntington, N.Y. / Huntington) on the 400-meter leg,
Ruach Padhal (London, Ontario / John Paul II Catholic) on the 800-meter leg and All-American
Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) will anchor the relay on the 1,600-meter leg. The men's time of 9:29.21 (9:36.94 converted) currently ranks 10th in the NCAA after a fourth-place finish at the JDL Fast Track Invitational held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina last month. This will be the sixth-consecutive year the men's DMR has qualified.
"Joe goes into this weekend ranked fourth in the country and he'll have his work cut out for him with 10 men running under 1:47 this season," Director of Track & Field
Julie Culley said. "We look forward to him advancing out of the preliminary round and getting to see him really compete on Saturday. The men's DMR will have a different lineup than we had in qualifying to NCAA's, but we've got four fantastic legs leading the team in Jack, Lawrence, Ruach and Nick. They are healthy and hungry and we are excited to see what they can do as a team."

ESPN3 will stream the meet live on both days.
