Joe White Places Sixth in 800-Meter Final at NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – All-American Joe White (Clifton, N.J. / DePaul Catholic) finished in sixth place in the men's 800-meter final on day two of the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. The Birmingham CrossPlex and the University of Alabama Birmingham have served as hosts throughout championship weekend.

Through the first few laps, White paced himself sitting in the middle of the pack. With 200 meters gone, he was able to make up some ground posting a strong split of 26.93 through the 400-meter mark. Towards the end, however, White was unable to move into striking distance and ultimately finished sixth in a time of 1:48.19.

Of the two BIG EAST institutions with male athletes at the championships, the Hoyas finished 25th overall with nine points, ahead of Villanova. Six points came from the third-place finish in the men's DMR on Friday while three came from White's finish on Saturday.

The 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field All-Americans will be released on Monday, March 11 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Georgetown will open the outdoor track & field season at the Penn Challenge on Saturday, March 23 in Philadelphia.
