Box Score TOWSON, Md. – The Georgetown University softball team dropped a 9-3 decision at Towson on Wednesday afternoon in a midweek matchup. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 9-28 overall.
Freshman
Mae Forshey (Phoenix, Ariz. / Arcadia) went 3 for 3 on the day and recorded an RBI. Junior
Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del. / Red Lion Christian Academy) and sophomore
Savannah Jones (San Rafael, Calif. / Terra Linda) each had a pair of hits on the day while Holiday brought in two runs for the Hoyas.
Junior
Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas / St. John's School) took the nod in the circle and allowed five runs off of four hits in 1.1 innings of work. She walked one and struck out two. Sophomore
London Diller (Sugar Land, Texas / George Ranch) threw 1.0 innings and allowed two more hits. Junior
Katie Vannicola (Vienna, Va. / James Madison HS) finished the game and allowed another pair of runs off of three hits.
The Hoyas opened up the scoring early on in the top of the first. Junior
Alexa Dolby (Round Hill, Va. / Woodgrove) started it off with a walk and advanced to second and third on a sacrifice hit and stolen base, respectively. With Forshey third in the lineup, she singled to second and brought Dolby home to put GU on the board 1-0.
Towson tied it 1-1 with a home run out of center field in the bottom of the second and went on to score four more runs to take a 5-1 lead. In the bottom of the third, the Tigers landed a two-run home run to make it 7-1.
In the top of the fifth with Jones and Forshey on second and third, respectively, Holiday found a gap in shallow left field and brought in the runners on base, making it 7-3 in favor of the Tigers. Towson added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the 9-3 victory.
Up next the Blue & Gray will remain on the road and head to Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend to take on Butler for a three-game BIG EAST series.
