WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's tennis team (3-14) defeated Navy 4-3 on Friday afternoon in a come-from-behind victory, winning four-straight singles matches after trailing 3-0. Senior Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) clinched the match for the Hoyas at No. 4 in a three-set battle 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-3.
 
Navy (21-8) secured the doubles point early, winning two of the three matches. At No. 3, Elena De Santis (Avellino, Italy / Convitto Nazionale P. Colletta) and partner Anna Short (Birmingham, Mich. / Cranbrook Kingswood) defeated their opponents 7-6(3).
 
In singles, the Midshipman got out to the early 3-0 lead after winning at No. 5 and No. 6. At No. 1, Sofie Moenster (Oslo, Norway / Ordrup Gymnasium) started the comeback for the Hoyas defeating Ansofi Wreder in straight sets 6-1, 7-5. Sydney Goodson (Great Falls, Va. / Langley) followed suit with a three-set victory at No. 2 after dropping the first in the tiebreak 6(4)-7, 6-0, 6-1.
 
With the Blue & Gray trailing by one, De Santis tied the match at No. 3 and completed her perfect outing, defeating Katreina Corpuz 6-3, 6(4)-7, 6-3. At three all, Nakagawa sealed the comeback victory for the Hoyas at No. 4.
 
The Hoyas will play their last regular season match on Saturday, April 13 against BIG EAST opponent, Marquette. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Georgetown Visitation. Prior to the contest, the team's three seniors will be honored in a senior day ceremony.
